Men’s Shortcomings in Body Language Reading and Production - 1

Women, for biological and psychological reasons, have a clear advantage if compared to men in the use of body language. Men use a lesser number of gestures, expressions and postures than women and the frequency with which these are employed is smaller if compared with that of individuals of female sex.

This is true not only for the "unintentional" nonverbal communication, the spontaneous and unconscious part that we cannot control, but also for the "voluntary" part, that we knowingly use in many situations, included attraction. Men suffer from a serious handicap in this field if compared to women.

They not only have shortcomings from the point of view of nonverbal language production, but also and above all from that of its understanding. Most of them, unlike women, don’t even know about this phenomenon or, if they do, they are not able to notice it when they observe other people.

For this reason, men find it hard to read and to understand the messages sent by women during the courtship phase and to send their own. Since, as we said in another article, women need to use a communicative form that reduces the risks during the search for the partner and that attracts only the individuals held fit, they are forced to use a series of almost imperceptible signals that are part of the family of nonverbal communication.

As for every language, it’s essential to know these signals if we is want to communicate with people that use them. Unfortunately, it doesn't exist a school where together with Spanish and to French, we can learn body language.
For women this is not a problem. For them body language it’s a kind of second mother tongue.
