Men’s Shortcomings in Body Language Reading and Production - 2
Unlike the first mother tongue, that is learned through the contact with her parents, with the environment and with other people, nonverbal language is already present, since birth, in their dictionary of knowledge, an innate competence that develops with time and experience.
One of the reasons for which Nature has gifted her with this "language" it’s to facilitate her during the courtship process and for the mate selection. The same Nature has given other peculiarities to men, such as a greater physical strength or a superior space-temporal perception that women don’t have.
In reality, however, these characteristics are not very useful during courtship and, as we already said, there are no schools where we can fill this gap in non verbal language knowledge. Consequently, it happens very often that men don't realize to be the recipients of nonverbal messages sent by women or, if they notice them, they don’t understand their meaning.
Besides nonverbal signals understanding, it’s also very important to know how to use those signals. A man who knows this language is certainly benefited in comparison to his competitors.
With this knowledge he is able to read the signals sent by a woman, to understand the her state of mind and feelings, to understand if the woman is more or less receptive to a possible approach and, sending some his own nonverbal signals, to communicate his interest to the woman.
Moreover, using a certain type of gestures and postures, the man is able to increase the probabilities to be selected from a potential partner. To obviate to this Mother Nature’s lack, it can be useful to learn what are the gestures, the postures and the expressions that indicate a woman’s availability to be approached and which nonverbal messages men send during the courtship game.
