What Do Women Look For in Potential Partners – Intro – 2

In conclusion, therefore, what drives women in their choice of the partner is their necessity, in the specific case the necessity of their genes, to keep on living in the future through their descendants. If this instinctive impulse had not existed, there would have been no evolution of the species and we would probably still be monocellular organisms.

Basically, we can say that partner's choice, at least to a certain level, is driven by an innate immortality instinct, if not of the body itself, at least of the genes, common to all human beings and that women concretize electing as their partner a man with characteristics that assure the propagation of the genes and, therefore, of the species.

After this dissertation it remains the doubt, however, on what are these distinctive elements that women or, as we have seen, their instinct, look for in a partner and for what reasons. Anthropological researches conducted in various parts of the world tell us that the qualities more commonly considered as "fundamental" are: emotional safety, status, resources and physical peculiarities. All of these components have a common denominator: the propagation of the species.

Two of these elements, emotional safety and financial safety, the last one denominated more generically resources, are necessary to assure to the woman, especially in the period in which she needs it the most, during procreation and the breeding of the baby when she is more fragile and exposed, a psychological and economic support without which she could be in difficulty since, particularly in that period, she would not have the necessary strength to get it by herself. In this case, the presence of a partner that can assure both the financial and the emotional tranquility for the baby and for the woman, can come extremely useful.
